The Wake Forest Police Department’s Main Station, located at 225 S. Taylor St., is temporarily relocating its public counter to the Brooks Street Substation while major renovations are made to the current facility.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 24, the main station will be closed to the public and restricted to authorized personnel only. Anyone wishing to conduct business with the police department should visit the Brooks Street Substation, located at 221 S. Brooks St., between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Signs will be posted along Brooks Street and in front of the main station directing visitors to the Brooks Street Substation.

Live scan fingerprinting service, which the police department normally offers to the general public at the main station on Thursdays between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., will also be discontinued until the renovations are completed.

The $500,000 project will include a much-needed upgrade to the building’s heating, venting, and air conditioning system, an enlarged evidence room, new carpet, fresh paint, and an enclosed entrance. Construction is expected to take at least three months to complete.

All phone numbers for the police department will remain unchanged. For general inquiries and after-hours phone calls, call 919-554-6150. For emergencies, call 919-556-9111.
