Wake Forest Sustainability 101

Nearly everything we do impacts our environment in some way. Wake Forest encourages residents to thoughtfully manage, preserve, and enhance the natural environment. After all, our high-quality environment supports our high quality of life!

A healthy environment fosters livable spaces, provides clean and cool air, increases property values, decreases energy costs, reduces flooding, combats climate change, builds resiliency, and creates connections between citizens and the outdoor world.

What is Sustainability?

Sustainable practices support ecological, human, and economic health and vitality.

Sustainability presumes that resources are finite, and should be used conservatively and wisely with a view to long-term priorities and consequences of the ways in which resources are used. In simplest terms, sustainability is about our children and our grandchildren, and the world we will leave them.
