Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources is partnering with the Shepherd Center to offer the 2025 SPIRIT of Inclusion Expo on Sunday, March 23, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Joyner Park Community Center, 701 Harris Road.
Free and open to everyone, the Spirit of Inclusion Expo is a one-day event dedicated towards connecting individuals with disabilities and their families with valuable resources and services. Our expo aims to provide information, support, and opportunities to enhance the quality of life for attendees.
This event will feature a diverse range of vendors, organizations, and experts dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities.

Smiling While Sending Hope
Smiling While Sending Hope creates care packages for individuals with chronic illness and special needs from birth to 26. Our goal with this non-profit is to bring smiles to people’s faces and to help spread awareness of many illnesses and special needs. To not focus on the illness but to shine light and show others who do not have them not to judge others who may have one.
We Will Walk With You
We serve families who have a teen or young adult with IDD. We offer parent education and support as well as opportunities for those with IDD to socialize, learn skills, and serve their community.
Journey League
We provide an experience for young adults and adults to make friends, have play dates, and socialize through the game of basektball.
Special Olympics of NC
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
ReCreate Yourself LLC
Recreate Yourself, LLC is a premier provider of recreational therapy services, specializing in creating personalized, activity-based therapeutic programs. Triangle Disability & Autism Services, formerly The Arc of the Triangle, has been serving the Triangle area with a variety of services and programs. We are not only a non-profit provider of Medicaid and vocational services, but also host to a myriad of community program and events.

City of Raleigh SRIS
Raleigh Parks and the Specialized Recreation and Inclusion Services (SRIS) program area offers a variety of recreation programs for individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities. Inclusion Services supports access to typical programs for participants with disabilities by offering reasonable and appropriate accommodations.

NCSCIA provides support and resource information for the spinal cord injured community and their families in North Carolina.
Gigi's Playhouse
GiGi's is a Down syndrome Achievement Center. We provide FREE programs for individuals with Down syndrome from birth to adult. Programs include 1 on 1 literacy, math, and speech tutoring, Fitness, Cooking, Job Readiness and many more! We also provide parent support groups.
Spectrum Soccer
We’re dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for youth with Autism and other neurodivergents to thrive through soccer.
Cathy Smith
Teach basic cooking skills to teens and adults with disabilities while creating an safe and welcoming environment to allow participants to grow in social and life skills.
Triangle Special Hockey Association
TSHA is open to all individuals with developmental or physical disabilities who want to participate in ice hockey and/or street/ball hockey. As long as a person can stand and walk, they can participate in our program (if not, there are at least two sled-hockey organizations nearby).
NC Museum of Art
At the North Carolina Museum of Art, we believe in the transformative power of art. Through the People’s Collection, the state art collection that belongs to the citizens of North Carolina, and our 164-acre Park, we strive to create a sense of welcome and belonging. We have inclusive programs like our Virtual Sensory Journey Through Art program is designed for people who are blind or have low vision, along with our tactile tours that benefit everyone of all abilities.

Shepherd Center
A rehabilitation hospital that provides post acute care for individuals who suffered a spinal cord injury or brain injury. Shepherd Center’s Recreation Therapy Department’s mission is to help people with a temporary or permanent disability caused by injury or disease to lead healthy and active lifestyles as independently as possible through the use of recreation activities, providing education, skill development, and community reintegration opportunities.
