Solid Waste Billing

Solid Waste Service

On January 1, 2021, solid waste service, which had been covered by annual tax revenues, began appearing as a monthly solid waste fee on residents’ Raleigh Water bills. The fee includes weekly trash and recycling collection, weekly yard waste collection, seasonal collections for loose leaves and Christmas trees, scheduled bulk waste pickup, and scheduled weekly large brush collection.

New Solid Waste Fee - Effective July 2024

In June 2024, the Wake Forest Board of Commissioners voted to approve a $23.00 monthly solid waste fee to be included on residents' utility statements.

  • $14.50 for Trash Collection (per cart)

  • $6.50 for Recycling Collection (per cart)

  • $2.00 for Yard Waste Collection

Beginning in January 2021, solid waste services were no longer covered through annual property tax bills.

The monthly fee of $23.00 includes one 96-gallon trash cart and one 96-gallon recycling cart. Services include weekly trash and recycling collection, weekly yard waste collection, and - upon request - additional services such as bulk collection and brush pickup

Each household may add up to ONE additional trash cart for an additional $14.50 monthly charge and/or ONE additional recycling cart for an additional $6.50 monthly charge. Customers must request additional carts.

Applying for Service

When you contact Raleigh Water you will be automatically added to the solid waste collection service for the Town of Wake Forest. If your home is new construction, you will need to contact Public Works to have the address added for service both with Raleigh and Wake Forest.

Business and Commercial

Business and Commercial entities should contact the solid waste provider of their choice for service.

Moving Out

Beginning January 2021, residents moving out of town will cancel solid waste service when water service is canceled. Solid Waste carts should be left behind at your home.
