2024 Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule

The Wake Forest Town Hall and other administrative offices will be closed Thursday-Friday, Nov. 28-29, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Police and fire service will not be interrupted, but other Town operations will be affected, including trash and recycling collection.

During the week of November 25, the collection of trash and recycling will change as follows: Thursday’s route will be collected Friday, Nov. 29, and Friday’s route will be collected Saturday, Nov. 30.

Yard waste will not be collected November 28-29. The collection of all routes, including the Thursday and Friday routes, will occur Monday-Wednesday, Nov. 25-27, until all have been completed. To ensure that all neighborhoods are serviced properly, residents are urged to leave their normal yard waste and loose leaves in separate piles behind the curb by 7 a.m. Monday for pickup by Wednesday. As always, please avoid placing items on or near mailboxes, utility boxes, utility poles or other fixed objects.

Wake Forest residents can track the progress of leaf collection crews by calling the Leaf Collection Hotline at 919-435-9582. The hotline is updated each weekday morning by 8 a.m. with information identifying areas where crews will be working that day. 

Bulk pick-ups will be scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 26, and may extend into Wednesday, Nov. 27. To schedule a bulk pick-up, complete the online bulk waste pick-up request form at http://bit.ly/WFBulkPickupForm by 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25.

Residents without internet service can schedule their pick-up by calling 919- 435-9570 by 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25. Residents who call after hours may leave a voicemail message. All voicemail requests for bulk pick-up service must include the resident’s name, physical address, and telephone number, along with a description of the bulk waste items to be collected. Any service request that does not include the required information will not be processed.

Go Wake Forest will not operate on Thursday, Nov. 28, but will resume normal operations on Friday, Nov. 29.

The Wake Forest-Raleigh Express will not operate Thursday-Friday, Nov. 28-29, but will resume normal operations on Monday, Dec. 2.

Town offices will re-open Monday, Dec. 2, at 8 a.m.

Wake Forest residents are encouraged to stay informed about the Town’s trash, recycling, and yard waste collection programs, including changes to the normal collection schedules, by signing up for the “Waste Wizard.” Available on the Town website at http://bit.ly/WFWasteWizard, the Waste Wizard is an interactive tool that allows users to sign up for waste collection reminders and download collection schedules.
