Concrete work to begin Tuesday along Retail Drive

Monday, March 17, 2025 - 2:22pm

Beginning Tuesday, March 18, and continuing through mid-April, Blythe Construction and Fulford & Jones, contractors working on the 2025 Wake Forest Road Resurfacing Project, will reduce to one lane with intermittent two-way traffic the portion of Retail Drive from Durham Road/NC 98 to Dr. Calvin Jones Highway/NC 98 Bypass daily from 7 a.m.-5 p.m.

The temporary lane closure is necessary to allow crews to install updated ADA ramps and repair and replace sidewalk, curb, and gutter.

Signage and flaggers will be in place to manage traffic flow and safely direct motorists through the work area. Delays are expected, so motorists are encouraged to avoid the area if possible and take an alternate route.

Targeting 15 Wake Forest streets and roadways, the 2025 Road Resurfacing Project consists of concrete work, which began in February, and asphalt work which will begin in June. The initiative involves full depth patching, roadway repairs, and repaving, along with the replacement and repair of curb and gutter. Several black ADA ramps are also being replaced with yellow mats per national standards.

The 2025 Road Resurfacing Project is a 2022 Wake Forest Bond Referendum initiative.
