COVID testing causing traffic disruptions around Northern Regional Center

Wednesday, January 5, 2022 - 11:19am

Lines of cars queued along both sides of East Holding Avenue are causing traffic delays and disruptions in the vicinity of the Northern Regional Center (NRC), 350 E. Holding Ave., due to increased numbers of residents getting tested for COVID.

To ensure an orderly traffic flow, Town officials are encouraging anyone planning to visit the NRC testing site to approach the facility from the Dr. Calvin Jones Highway/NC 98 Bypass. Motorists should then turn onto South Franklin Street and then onto Yellow Poplar. From there, turn right onto South White Street and right along East Holding Avenue before turning right into the NRC lot.

Electronic signage has been installed along South Franklin Street to direct traffic and help ensure the safety of motorists. Drivers are advised to plan ahead, remain patient and follow the direction of signage and traffic control.

The NRC offers COVID-19 testing by appointment only Monday-Saturday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Appointments allow Wake County to prioritize residents who are symptomatic, have been exposed to COVID-19 or are at higher risk. For more information or to make an appointment, call 1-888-675-4567 or visit www.wakegov.com/covid-19-information.
