Raleigh Water responding to water main break along North Main Street/US 1A

A water main has ruptured along the 500 block of North Main Street/US 1A. It is unclear what caused the main to rupture, and there is no word on how many water customers have been impacted.

Southbound North Main Street/US 1A is closed from West Cedar Avenue to West Juniper Avenue, so crews can safely repair the water main. The work is expected to be completed by 11 p.m.

A signed detour is in place directing motorists traveling southbound along North Main to turn right onto West Cedar Avenue, left onto North College Street, left onto West Juniper Avenue, then right back onto North Main.

Delays are expected, so motorists may wish to avoid the area and take an alternate route.
