Police investigating shooting along East Wait Avenue
***UPDATE - At approximately 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, Issac Mason, age 18, of Long Island New York was arrested in Stony Brook, NY, in connection with the August 17 shooting death of Tyler Ray Wood along the 1000 block of East Wait Avenue.
Mason is currently being held in Suffolk County, NY, pending extradition to North Carolina. He has been charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill and Murder.
The Wake Forest Police Department (WFPD) coordinated with local, state, and federal agencies in North Carolina and New York to locate, capture, and arrest Mason. WFPD wishes to thank these agencies for their assistance.

***UPDATE - The 29-year-old gunshot victim from the East Wait Avenue shooting has died from his injuries. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notifications and investigative follow up.
This incident is now being investigated as a homicide.
A suspect has not been taken into custody.

Just before 3 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, Wake Forest Police responded to a reported shooting along the 1000 block of East Wait Avenue.
Upon their arrival, officers located one person suffering from a gunshot wound. The individual was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no danger to the public.
