Performance

Performance management prioritizes the capacity of existing services and programs and focuses on optimizing operational performance. It is important that we assess what we are currently doing and how we are providing services to the community before considering expansion of those services and programs or pursuing new initiatives.

During the budget development process, departmental budget requests must be aligned with the strategic plan, and departments are also required to revise or establish associated key performance indicators and targets for the coming fiscal year. Performance is tracked on a quarterly basis and reported annually. The quarterly reporting allows us the opportunity to better analyze trends and course correct mid-year, if necessary. As performance gaps are identified, expansion of the service or program and new strategic initiatives and investments are created to close the gaps.

Our open data portal provides performance data from several Town departments, including Fire, Police, Planning, Inspections, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources, Downtown Development, Public Works, and Downtown Development, in addition to financial reports. This is an ongoing initiative that will be updated annually to make data more easily accessible and encourage residents to become more familiar with how their government is performing.
