Vital Theatre cancels September 16 performances of “The Wizard of Oz”
The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre announced today that Vital Theatre has canceled both performances of “The Wizard of Oz” on Saturday, Sept. 16.
In an email to the Renaissance Centre, the theater company did not offer a reason for the cancellation but shared the following: “This is the first time in 25 years we’ve not been able to meet our obligations. But we’ve been getting crushed in this post-pandemic environment.”
The Renaissance Centre will issue refunds to everyone who purchased a ticket. Anyone with questions regarding refunds may contact the box office at [email protected] or 919-435-9458.
Vital Theatre’s presentations of “The Wizard of Oz” had been included among the “Main Stage Performances” as part of the Renaissance Centre’s 10-year anniversary celebration which began in July and continues through April. In response to Vital Theatre’s cancellation, Renaissance Centre officials say they are considering adding a theatrical performance in May 2024.
