Preservation Month continues Wednesday with free Ailey Young House webinar

Monday, May 16, 2022 - 9:57am

The Historic Preservation Program (HPP) is partnering with the Wake Forest Historical Museum to commemorate Preservation Month in May by offering two free webinars on the history of the Northeast Community and the Ailey Young House.

On Wednesday, May 18, at 6:30 p.m., Christopher Robey, Master of Landscape Architecture candidate at the University of Georgia, will share his research on Simmons Row and Heritage Strategies for Interpreting the site adjacent to the Ailey Young House along North White Street.

One week later, on Wednesday, May 25, at 6:30 p.m., Sherry Boyette, Master of Arts in Anthropology candidate at NC State University, will discuss her archaeological research about Porch Living: The Material Culture of the Ailey Young House.

The public is invited to attend these Zoom webinars online or by phone. There is no cost to participate, but registration is required at http://bit.ly/WFPreservationMonth. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with information about joining the webinar.

Finally, it’s not too late to help update the Historic Preservation Plan. A questionnaire from the May 10 Visioning Workshop is provided through Tuesday, May 17, at https://engagewakeforest.org/. Please take a moment to complete and submit the questionnaire and help shape the Town’s Historic Preservation Program. For more information visit https://bit.ly/WFHistoricPreservationPlanUpdate.
