Board of Commissioners postpones second vote on Friday Night on White curfew
During its work session on Tuesday, June 4, the Wake Forest Board of Commissioners (BOC) voted to postpone a second vote on an amendment to the Town’s Curfew Ordinance (Sec. 20-131) that would have established an 8 p.m. curfew during Friday Night on White for unsupervised minors under the age of 18.
Approved by the BOC during its regular meeting on May 21, the amendment required a second reading and approval on June 4.
Instead, following a lengthy discussion, the BOC voted 4-1 to postpone the second reading and revisit the matter after the June 14 Friday Night on White.
The June 4 BOC Work Session is airing daily on WFTV 10 through Tuesday, June 11, at 9 a.m., 3 p.m., and 9 p.m. The meeting is also available on demand in streaming video on the Public Meetings Portal of the Town website at www.wakeforestnc.gov/public-meetings-portal.
Introduced in 2016, Friday Night on White takes place in downtown Wake Forest from 6-9 p.m. on the second Friday night of each month from April through September. The free concert series features local and regional party bands playing classic rock and pop, 70s, 80s, and 90s hits, R&B dance, Top 40, and Motown favorites. The June 14 concert will feature Bounce! Party Band. For more information, email Downtown Development Director Jennifer Herbert at [email protected].
