Lt. Aaron Bitting earns prestigious Leadership Award
The Wake Forest Police Department (WFPD) is pleased to announce that Lt. Aaron Bitting is the recipient of Axon Training’s Leadership Award.
Lt. Bitting earned the honor after completing an intensive recertification program at Axon’s TASER Energy Weapon Master Instructor Certification School in Los Angeles, CA. Comprised of 120 Master Instructors (MI’s) from across the United States, the five-day course provides instructor development and training on Energy Weapon best practices, weapon handling, de-escalation, scenario-based training, and TASER program management.
MI’s are considered subject matter experts on TASER Energy Weapons and used for expert testimony, critical incident analysis, and training/certifying of TASER instructors.
Bitting was presented with the Leadership Award for his overall performance throughout the week-long training.
“Congratulations Lt. Bitting on being nominated and unanimously chosen to receive the most prestigious leadership and training award of AXON Training,” wrote Axon Training Advisory Board Member Ronnie Crump. “Your performance, teamwork, and leadership were exceptional. Your achievements during Master Instructor School are a reflection of your exceptional abilities and your unwavering commitment to professional policing and law enforcement training.”
After joining the WFPD as an officer in 2006, Bitting was promoted to Corporal in 2014, Sergeant in 2016 and Lieutenant in 2024. A Wake Forest native, Bitting initially earned MI certification in 2022. Recertification is required every two years.
