NCFST Mobile Market returns to Wake Forest Thursday
The Northern Community Food Security Team (NCFST) and Ripe for Revival are pleased to provide a mobile grocery store across from the Northern Regional Center, 350 E. Holding Ave., on the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 3-5 p.m. – rain or shine. Offering fruits, vegetables, meat, and dairy from local and regional farmers on a pay-what-you-can scale, the NCFST Mobile Market returns to Wake Forest on Thursday, Feb. 27.
As a bonus, a representative from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC will be on hand to answer questions about Medicare eligibility, enrollment, and benefits. The AmeriHealth Caritas NC Mobile Wellness Center will also be onsite providing blood pressure screenings, WIFI computer/printer access, and charging stations, as well as information on Medicaid.
Open to everyone, NCFST’s pay-what-you-can mobile grocery store makes fresh and local produce, proteins, dairy, eggs, and other food products accessible and affordable to all, regardless of their budget. When shopping, there are limits on the amount of protein, dairy, and eggs a consumer can purchase, but no limits on produce.
At checkout, shoppers are given a suggested total. Shoppers can then pay the full amount, a portion of that amount, or nothing at all. Both cash and card payments are accepted.
In 2024, the NCFST Mobile Market served 1,574 patrons and sold 9,178 lbs. of produce, 3,027 lbs. of protein, and 399 lbs. of dry goods at 57% of the suggested total price.
