PRCR Department partnering with FUNGO to offer Off-Season Development Program for youth baseball & softball players
The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department is partnering with Wake Forest FUNGO to offer a new off-season development program for baseball and softball players (boys and girls, respectively) ages 8-15.
Led by FUNGO's professional staff, the program is designed to help players develop their baseball and softball skills through group and individual workouts. Program participants will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Dec.6-Feb. 9, from 7:30-9 p.m. at Heritage High Park, 1150 Forestville Road.
Registration is open through Wednesday, Nov. 30, at https://wakeforestnc.recdesk.com/Community/Program (search “ODP”). The cost is $300 for Wake Forest residents and $375 for non-Wake Forest residents.
In September, the Wake Forest Board of Commissioners approved a partnership with Wake Forest FUNGO, a college summer baseball program featuring college players. Unique to Wake County, the FUNGO organization offers professional baseball and softball training for youth ages 7 through college, while also supporting American Legion affiliate teams.
FUNGO is housed within the NC Amateur Baseball Club (NCABC), a youth athletics non-profit with a mission of fostering diverse, inclusive, affordable, and valuable athletic opportunities to our community.
“We are proud to have FUNGO integrating with our community to bring summer baseball and winter off-season programs to the young athletes of Wake Forest,” said PRCR Director Ruben Wall.
