Wake Forest residents invited to open house & BBQ to provide feedback on Public Transit Plan
The Town of Wake Forest is developing a plan for the future of public transit. The public is invited to attend an open house and enjoy some BBQ on Thursday, Feb. 2, to learn more about this initiative and provide feedback on the process.
Open house sessions will be offered from 1-2:30 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. at the Alston-Massenburg Center (AMC), 416 N. Taylor St. The AMC can be reached by the Wake Forest Loop (WFL) A and B bus routes. Riders can hop off at the Juniper Avenue at Taylor Street bus stop to reach the center.
Both sessions will have an informal, open house-style format, along with the same content, so residents may drop in anytime from 1-2:30 p.m. or 6-7:30 p.m. to view displays, ask questions, and share comments. BBQ will be served at both sessions, while supplies last. There will also be a children’s activity for kids to enjoy.
The purpose of the Public Transit Plan is to:
evaluate existing service
understand the viability of alternatives to fixed-route services
recommend a solution for transit expansion
Those who cannot attend one of the open house sessions on February 2 are especially encouraged to complete the online Wake Forest Transit Plan Community Survey at https://bit.ly/TOWFPublicTransitPlan. Available through Sunday, Feb. 19, the survey takes about three minutes to complete.
This project is supported by a grant from US Treasury as part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds award totaling $14.5 million. For more information, visit https://bit.ly/TOWF_ARPA.
