PRCR Department renews designation as “Better Sports for Kids Quality Program Provider”
The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department has successfully renewed its designation as a “Better Sports for Kids Quality Program Provider” by the National Alliance for Youth Sports.
The PRCR Department originally earned the distinction in 2019. Its renewal demonstrates that the PRCR Department continues to take steps to ensure a safe, quality playing environment for children and meets key requirements in five categories: 1) Written Policies and Procedures, 2) Volunteer Screening, 3) Coach Training, 4) Parent Education and 5) Accountability.
“Congratulations to Athletics Specialist KP Kilpatrick for leading the effort to renew this important designation,” said PRCR Director Ruben Wall. “It reinforces that we are providing youth sports programs of the highest standard.”
Wall also said the distinction helps PRCR Department programs stand out among a sea of athletics options.
“Parents have many choices when it comes to youth sports,” he said. “The Better Sports for Kids Quality Program Provider designation is another important way we can set ourselves apart and continue instilling confidence in our programs. Parents can take comfort knowing their child is in the best place possible to learn and compete in sports.”
The National Alliance for Youth Sports, a 501(c)3 organization headquartered in West Palm Beach, Fla., administratively manages the designation which was developed around the National Standards for Youth Sports, a guiding resource originally published in 1987. Any organization can apply to be evaluated for the Better Sports for Kids Quality Program Provider designation, and no cost is involved.
