Wake Forest Unplugged & free concert Sunday at Joyner Park
The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Advisory Board will host the 12th Annual "Wake Forest Unplugged, Get Connected" this Sunday, Sept. 3, from 5-7 p.m. at E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Road.
Wake Forest Unplugged invites area residents to disconnect from their smart phones, computers, and other electronic devices and reconnect with their community, friends, and family by engaging in healthier, more active pursuits. From 5-7 p.m., the PRCR Advisory Board will host a variety of organized games and activities, including sack and relay races, corn hole, and miniature golf, in the vicinity of the Walker Garden.
The electronics-free afternoon will culminate with the first of two free “Concerts in the Park” on consecutive Sundays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Joyner Park Amphitheater. “SNAP” will headline the September 3 concert, followed by “The Soul Psychedlique Orchestra” on Sunday, Sept. 10.
The following food and dessert trucks are scheduled to be onsite during each concert:
September 3 - Lumpy’s Ice Cream, Kona Ice, Smith’s Smokehouse & Smoothies, and Empanada RD
September 10 - JAM Ice Cream, Mamma Churros, Cilantro Mexican Cuisine, and Not Just a Fry Guy
For both concerts, attendees are invited to bring a picnic, leashed pets, blanket, or lawn chair, and enjoy the music. However, alcoholic beverages, smoking, and unleashed pets are prohibited at Joyner Park.
