Project Overview

The Town of Wake Forest maintains approximately 133 miles of paved roadways and is committed to performing necessary maintenance and street rehabilitation to improve the longevity of these assets within its limits.

The street rehabilitation process requires maintenance and preservation practices to reduce and minimize the deterioration processes. For this reason, maintaining and rehabilitation of the pavement is a top priority for the Town, and it can be utilized to extend the pavement service life.

The street rehabilitation project will include the milling and placement of new asphalt on Town-owned roadways. Your patience and cooperation is greatly appreciated, and every effort will be made to minimize inconveniences to those adjacent to the work areas.

During Construction

During the construction period, residents will have access to their driveways. However, no parking will be allowed along the street. All vehicles will be towed, if necessary, to complete the work.

All work is expected to be conducted during weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Town employees and their contractor will work closely with residents and regulatory agencies to deliver a high-quality project on time, while minimizing disruptions to traffic and the environment.

Noise and dust may cause temporary impacts to residents during the construction, and this will be  limited to a few hours at a time. If the construction work must be rescheduled due to weather, personnel, or equipment, the residents will be notified the rescheduled construction dates.

Please note that some trees may have to be pruned or removed to accommodate the work. For any tree removal, residents will be notified in advance.

If you have any questions about this project or need additional information, please contact at (919-435-9447) or by e-mail at [email protected]. However, if you experience a water or sewer emergency, please call our 24-hr hotline at 919-City of Raleigh

Wheel Twisting Damage on New Paving

Dear Residents,

As you are aware, our community has recently undergone road paving to improve the quality and longevity of our streets. To ensure that the new asphalt remains in optimal condition, we kindly ask for your cooperation in preserving the integrity of the pavement.

One of the key ways to protect the new asphalt is by avoiding wheel twisting while your vehicle is stationary. Twisting the wheels without moving the car can cause significant damage to the new surface, leading to premature wear, surface deformation, and potential cracking (see images below).

These damages not only reduce the lifespan of the asphalt but also result in increased maintenance costs and inconvenience for everyone.

To help maintain the quality of our newly paved streets, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Avoid turning the steering wheel while the vehicle is not in motion.

  2. Make any necessary adjustments to your wheels while the car is slowly moving.

  3. Be mindful of your driving habits, especially during the initial curing period of the new asphalt.

Your cooperation is essential in keeping our community's infrastructure in the best possible condition. We appreciate your understanding and assistance in this matter.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
