NCDOT offers update on Purnell Road closure

Due to recent storm events and resulting pipe failures, the NC Department of Transportation has been forced to close portions of Purnell Road. The first closure occurred in July due to a sinkhole between Fairlake Drive and Holly Forest Road. Now, a similar issue has forced the closure near Jackson Road.

NCDOT officials say that weather permitting they expect the road to be repaired and reopened during the week of September 23. Until then, a signed detour will remain in place.
