Flooding possible along Smith Creek & Sanford Creek Greenways, users urged to take extra caution

Heavy rainfall and runoff from today’s weather event may cause flooding along portions of the Smith Creek and Sanford Creek Greenways.

Your safety is our top priority. Greenway users are urged to use caution and should not attempt to cross flood waters covering any section of the greenway system.

On segments that are clear of flood waters, take extra caution and slow down when transitioning from asphalt and/or concrete trail segments to wooden bridges and structures. Wood takes longer to dry after rain events and is a naturally smoother surface than asphalt or concrete. These characteristics result in wood surfaces having less traction than asphalt or concrete.
